7 Best Mat and Savanna Shaw Music Videos
The father-daughter duet is the break-through music viral sensation of the quarantine.
When father Mat Shaw and daughter Savanna Shaw decided to post a video of themselves singing “The Prayer,” they hadn’t much experience with social media. But, with more family time due to the quarantine, they thought the song might provide some entertainment to family and friends.
They didn’t realize the four-minute video would go viral with millions of views.
As strange as it might sound for a 15-year-old girl, Savanna didn’t even have any social media accounts. But, she felt that with the pandemic it would be a good way to stay in touch with friends, and signed up.
The Home Sheltered Duet
Savanna is a singer in a choir but practices had been canceled for social distancing reasons. The opportunity to sing with her father presented itself, and the rest is musical history. Up for only one month, the video has generated over 5.5 million views and counting.
Based on their success, the Utah duet has released another dozen songs. Those videos are continuing to collect many views as well.
Mat, a Utah realtor for his day job, had this to say, “If there has been a silver lining in this coronavirus situation for us, it’s that we do get to spend a whole lot more time together. I have heard that the only thing more contagious than a virus is hope, and so we are just trying to do our small little part in the world to spread a little bit of hope.”

Mat indicated that he and his daughter are looking to spread hope in these tough health and economic conditions. Originally released as a separate solo track on the soundtrack for “Quest for Camelot.” Celine Dion sang it in English, and Andrea Bocelli in Italian. This was the song that essentially launched the Shaw Duet.

Some big news for Mat and Savanna: they’re planning on releasing a new album. And, they’ve stepped up from their makeshift studio in their home closet to a professional recording studio. To date, they’ve done mostly covers – many based on suggestions from fans – but an original song is in the works. They also hope to sing a John Denver song together soon.
Since posting their first video on YouTube back in February, the Shaws have been featured guests on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and The Kelly Clarkson Show.
